Collage of radical imagery. Celebtrating working class history.
Including:
Luddites - Luddite ticket to invite new members. The luddites carried out a mass movement of machine wrecking, during the early industrial revolution to stop the loss of jobs to mechanisation in factories. In many of the towns involved people were suffering malnutrition and starvation after being fired from the factories. The ticket reads: 'No general but Ludd means the poor any good. ' The ticket was slipped into the hand/pocket of people in factories/pubs by luddites recruiting people they believed could be a trusted new member. It was never confirmed if General Ludd was a real figure or not as the luddites were so good at organisational secrecy.
Diggers - proto Anarchists/Communists of the English civil war. They rejected the War with pacifism and instead reclaimed common land running it as 'a common treasury for all'.
Black Mask - Radical art collective parallel to the situationists based in New York. Gun illustration reads: Were looking for people who like to draw.
Tintin - One out all out - From the Class War comic Breaking free. A story of a wild cat strike organised by militant builders. Very linked to the story of the wapping strike.
Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) - Badges from the infamous solidarity group.
